    Vrouwen in Burkina Faso zijn vaak aangewezen op zichzelf. Ze hebben kinderen, gemiddeld zelfs zeven per vrouw, die voeding, hygiënische leefomstandigheden en onderwijs nodig hebben. Om in hun eigen onderhoud te voorzien leven veel vrouwen van 'un petit commerce': een handeltje dat ze zelf draaien om inkomsten te genereren.

    Vrouwen op het platteland in Burkina Faso hebben voldoende kennis en ideeën voor zo'n 'petit commerce':

    Het ontbreekt hen echter vaak aan het benodigde geld om hun eigen project te starten. Daarom verstrekt ASAP jaarlijks microkrediet aan vrouwenassociaties in de door ASAP ondersteunde dorpen in Burkina Faso.
